Michelangelo Book for the uber-rich readers

If your flair for reading extends beyond the ordinary, then you must be looking at luxury publishing that is making waves these days. Forget diamond encrusted books, ‘Michelangelo: La Dotta Mano’ (Michelangelo: The Wise Hand), a volume of photographs of the Renaissance master’s sculptures is the ultimate coffee table book on stands this year. The book priced at a whopping sum $155,000 comes with a 500 year warranty. So, what’s special about this book? Expert artisans from different fields have worked to create a lavish book that is an ‘art by itself’. While the photographs are printed on high quality paper handmade exclusively for the project, the black marble cover is a scale reproduction of the “Madonna della Scala” (“Madonna of the Steps”), a bas-relief of the Virgin and Child sculptured by Michelangelo. The 46.2 pound book was carried by two attendants when Gruppo FMR made a gala presentation of the book in a spectacular event.
