Dazzling hourglass reveals BMW 7-Series with style

I love to gaze at the sand cascading down from the top of the hour glass and can go on and on by turning it upside down. This age-old concept of keeping a tab on time hasn’t faded with time. In fact with the changing times, the application of hour glass has also progressed innovatively. And the best exemplar is the latest buzz about the BMW hour glass. It was the highlight of the BMW’s “Never Stand Still” newest marketing gimmick for the European launch of the latest model of BMW 7 series. At the Red Square, for two days, the 7-Series was hidden in 180,000 silver balls that filled a giant glass-and-acrylic hourglass almost 40 feet tall. Then on the d-day, in front of 400 invited guests the top of the hourglass emptied to reveal the car.

Singapore Airlines private bedroom

Singapore Airlines upgraded their luxury seating by announcing the new ’super-first’ class on the Airbus A380 double decker. The fully enclosed private suites, which signify to the ‘golden age’ of flying boats in the thirties and forties, have been designed by famous yacht designer Jean-Jacques Coste. Each suite will be equipped with a leather seat and a full-sized bed with mattress. The two middle suites can be further transformed into doubles for couples. The cabins will be getting a gadget galore, including a 23-inch flat-screen TV, with a choice of 100 films and 180 TV programmes, and 700 CDs. A ritzy aircraft without a bedroom is like an action movie without a high-speed car chase!

Airbus A350 With BMW Interiors

Want to experience BMW’s luxury in an absolutely new avatar! Airbus A350 unveiled its A350 twinjet at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2006 exhibition in Hamburg next month that featured opulent interiors by BMW. Airbus has linked with BMW Group Designworks to design a new interior on the A350. The ultra-luxury cabin will boast of high-end luxury features like the A350 chief engineer Dougie Hunter says, “We can project onto the ceiling whatever is appropriate for the mood required, for example the night sky or clouds etc. Hunter says that, a concept around the door two area has a bar area and seating for economy while the entrance area will feature a dome to give the feeling of spaciousness or openness in the cabin.” The new luxurious airbus will also have improved overhead bin design to increase their volume.

Giant LED wristwatch doubles up as a chic table

When was the last time you lost track of time while having that little chat with someone at the bar? Presumably very recently. An ode to those who value time and also to those who don’t, a tribute to the timepiece and a testimonial to the fact that most of us don’t value time as much as we should, is the Big Time designed by Lee J Rowland. Big Time is a sleek and stylish giant wristwatch, which can be used as a table, and when guests or clients look at the table, they will know you are someone who values time a lot! You can finally intimidate those blokes who aren’t punctual in the most artistic and possibly most expensive way possible. The Big Time has a programmable LED clock and a touch button feature just like any other normal watch. It is also possible to have an 8-letter message of your choice. Now we said this is a table, so in order to prove its function as a table, it has slim drawers hidden somewhere and you can hide all the things, which you don’t want on your wristwatch table. The price apparently is available only on request, which means it is going to be prohibitively priced. If you don’t have a problem with spending money, you can ask for chrome and gold finishes as well.

First Jaguar D-Type goes for record £2.2 million

International fine art auctioneers Bonhams set a new world record auction price for any Jaguar motor car. The 1955 Jaguar D-Type Sports Racing Car ‘XKD509’ was sold to a British buyer for a whopping £2,201,500 (approximately $4.4 million). The 3.4-litre car was the first Jaguar D-Type to go into production in 1955. The auction was held at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester and this vintage car was sold on behalf of the Littlewoods Football Pools family. The car sold features an original subframe and tub, and the original 3.4-liter competition engine. The price has beats the previous world record of £1,706,000 set in 1999. Interestingly, when sold new in 1955, it cost a mere £2,500.

The Golden Porsche - From Russia with love...and gold!

Ouch, I just missed this blingy Porshce baby by a couple of days as I have recently compiled a list of 12 incredible bling-bling vehicles. Wish it was bought to my notice earlier, I would have definitely found a parking place for it on my dazzling list. However, better late than never, here is the second Golden Porsche that has dared to travel the gilded route. Much is know about the previous Gold Boxter but all that we know about this one is that this jazzed Porsche 911 is from Russia. The filthy rich owner definitely has tons of cash strewn around to load it with 40 pounds of the pure gold. It seems only Porsche wasn’t enough for the guy hence he got it decked up to look like it is covered with golden plates! Roll over for more glitzy images.....

Tower Bridge replica made with 1.6 million matches up for auction

41-year old British road layer Michael Williams has spent the last ten years of his life building a replica of London’s Tower Bridge. And if that fact startled you, you’d be even more astonished to know that he crafted the model out of 1.6million matchsticks! The 6ft-long structure is illuminated using 156 working lights and features a remarkable detail. Williams crafted the replica over a decade having spent three to four hours a day every evening using photographs and books to recreate the bridge by sight, carving each stick by hand. The replica has generated a huge interest in general public and Mr Williams, who is not married, is now planning to set the model up for auction to try and raise funds for an art studio of his own.

Goldstriker 24-Karat Gold Car Accessories

Don’t get me wrong, I love all things gold. And I love the gold accessories that Goldstriker are so famous for too! But even creative geniuses have their bad days and this collection of 24-karat car accessories were surely conceived on one of them. I mean when you already have a prized set of wheels like a Jaguar S-Type or an Audi, or a Chrysler 300C, or a BMW, or a Honda Civic Type R, or a Merc-Benz, you’re probably already ON the car thieves radar, and you probably don’t NEED to try any harder to get your car stolen. But just in case you like to push your luck, you’d really be interested in adorning your luxury car with a pure gold-plated grille, or a gold-plated BMW M3 badge, or a four-piece dress-up kit, or even gold plated rims! And while you’re at it, why not leave your Platinum Apple iPod nano and your limited edition Gold Blackberry in the car just to add to your personal bling-value in the eyes of the car-robber gangs. Now that’s gotta be blingy enough to be seen from outer space and a thief has to be very blind to miss it!

LifeMap helps you organize cherished memories stylishly

In spite of the world being a global village and in spite of we being able to keep in touch with our near and dear ones, occasionally we would like to glance upon photos of those who are close to your heart but not present physically. You may have heard of nostalgia, but you may not have heard of Saudade, a Portuguese term for a feeling that has no equivalent in any of the modern languages. Saudade is not just nostalgia but a longing for something or someone that you were fond of and that which you lost. So, what better way to immortalize those precious moments than to have a hi-tech digital photo organizer, which is different from the rest available in the market. LifeMap is a touch-screen digital photo storing and organizational system with the help of which you can organize and tag your photos with names of people, places, situations and any keyword that you can think of.

Bell Aurens Longnose is the New Generation Land Rover with 1500+ HP

German Land Rover enthusiasts Thomas Bell and Holger Kalvelage who also share their fascination for classic British roadsters have decided to combine these two attributes into one with the world’s first Land Rover 4×4 “Off-roadster” that looks like much like a vintage car. Bell Aurens Longnose, is a cross-over between a classic British roadster and a Land Rover. “Edward would have driven Wallis Simpson in a Bell Aurens Longnose to private outings. Lawrence of Arabia would have stormed in the Bell Aurens Longnose towards Akaba. And General Montgomery would have parked it in front of the officer’s says Bell and Kalvelage.” The ravishing ride features a choice of 8 or 12 cylinder 4.6-litre engines, leaf sprung double square steel ladder frame, modified standard steering from series Land Rover, off-road gear reduction. The V12 cylinder (aircraft engine) will feature a capacity of 27.0 liter approx 1500 bhp.
