Tower Bridge replica made with 1.6 million matches up for auction

41-year old British road layer Michael Williams has spent the last ten years of his life building a replica of London’s Tower Bridge. And if that fact startled you, you’d be even more astonished to know that he crafted the model out of 1.6million matchsticks! The 6ft-long structure is illuminated using 156 working lights and features a remarkable detail. Williams crafted the replica over a decade having spent three to four hours a day every evening using photographs and books to recreate the bridge by sight, carving each stick by hand. The replica has generated a huge interest in general public and Mr Williams, who is not married, is now planning to set the model up for auction to try and raise funds for an art studio of his own.
