Mercedes McLaren SLR Stirling Moss is official now!

So, the SLR Roadster 722 S wasn’t the last offering from the joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren. The latest entrant to the SLR range is the Stirling Moss, a sports car inspired by the Mercedes 300 SLRs driven by racing legend Sterling Moss in the ‘50s. It might be the last SLR from the duo. The Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss enjoys the same supercharged V8 engine that allows the roadster to achieve 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 217mph. Other salient features include a lightweight carbon fiber frame, two air scoops for stability, enhanced aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic disc brakes and stunning interiors. Only 75 units will go into production, with each costing €750,000 (over US $1 million). The limited edition car will be showcased at the Detroit Auto Show.

Supersport adds bling to the Benz

German tuners Supersport have a “jewel” of a car on display at the Essen Motor Show. The word jewel is pretty much in the literal sense, as the Mercedes SL 65 AMG stands decked with 250,000 Swarovski crystals to create a dragon that wraps around the body of the car, and covers it in bling. Supersport has made some small changes to the car, including lower ride height and carbon panels, but the shiny stones hog all the light on this 620hp beast.

Barack Obama to Gift £20,000 Gold Ring to his Wife

Jewelry shopping has already seen a hit this year due to the recession, but nevertheless, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” still holds true. Even Barack Obama will agree with it, and that pretty much explains his choice of gift for his wife, Michelle. The US President-elect has selected a rare £20,000 gold ring made by Italian designer Giovanni Bosco for his wife to say “thanks for your support.” The Harmony ring is made of rhodium and encrusted with diamonds. A spokesman at Giovanni Bosco said: “Our American distributor has contacted us and has asked us to provide details on the Harmony ring. It is our top of the range piece and made from rhodium and encrusted with diamonds. Our agent in the United States was asked by Mr. Barack Obama about the ring because he wants it as a thank you gift for his wife Michelle for her support the last two years.”
