Louis Vuitton’s new $265,000 timepiece is a complete in-house creation
Louis Vuitton is one of those few luxury brands that are still growing and innovating despite the recession. The brand is all set to win accolades for making a foray into technical watch-making with the company’s new watch collection that are created completely in-house, from conception to completion at its La Chaux de Fonds factory in Switzerland. Tambour Mystérieuse is the most high-end timepiece from the new collection. The watch has a round dial and is composed of a mechanism that is encapsulated by two sapphire crystal discs, allowing the watch itself to float within the bezel framing it. The collections offers a wide array of customizations including monogramming the second hand with the wearer’s initials, selecting gemstones to place on the platinum, white, yellow or red gold case and a choice of leather straps. The masterpiece comes encased in a miniature Vuitton trunk and takes about a year to craft, which justifies its $265,000 price tag. The collection includes few other styles ranging from $8,224 to $10,612.
