Prince Rainier III Limited Edition 81 Pen from Montblanc

Montblanc has already given us a number of priceless writing wonders, including the Bohème Royal, limited edition Alexander von Humboldt pen, and the Marlene Dietrich Commemoration Edition fountain pen. Pictured above is a pen that was exhibited recently in Monaco at a VIP charity gala to pay tribute to Prince Rainier III of Monaco. The gala was attended by Prince Albert and beauties like Helena Christiansen and Eva Green. Only 81 pieces of the Prince Rainier III Limited Edition 81 pens have been made. The number 81 has been taken since Rainier was 81 when he died in 2005. The pen is a skeletonized fountain-pen made of 18K white gold and adorned with diamonds and ruby-studded lozenges to emulate the red-white lozenges on the shield of the Grimaldi coat of arms. It flaunts 996 diamonds cut with facets and 92 rubies around its exterior while the inner workings are entirely visible. The clip ring on the cap has been further festooned with 19 more rubies while the 18K gold nib is set with two rubies. The Prince Rainier III Limited Edition 81 pen is valued at 200,000 Euros.
