Porsche Design Group's minimalistic cellphone oozes élan

What wouldn’t we give to own a cellphone that oozes class and élan! Well, the Porsche Design Group has unveiled a really fashionable cellphone called the P’9522, which is carved into a single block of brushed aluminum and a glass plate. With enough technical features like 2.8-inch touchscreen, GPS, 5-megapixel camera and other features, it is quite strong on the specs side too. Though the cellphone does not have 3G, the sleek looks and stylish design is enough to make you ignore that. The P’9522 reminds me of a futuristic but minimalist design, which simply takes my breath away. It would go on sale from November 2008 and would be available all over the world at specialty boutiques. The P’9522 costs 600 Euros.

Tesla to launch electric luxury sedans

It is no more chic to own a car that guzzles gallons of diesel and petrol. Instead, an electric car is green, cool and of course, environmentally friendly. However, most of us wouldn’t want to drive an EV that has either 3 wheels or looks small enough to be used only in an urban setting. The Tesla is soon going to launch luxury sedans that can put any gas-guzzling monster to shame while it zooms on the highways. The electric sedans would have a huge market among the uber-rich who are also environmentally conscious and care to do something about mother earth. The luxury sedans will run on lithium-ion battery pack and each charge would give 240 miles and, of course, an exceptional performance. These awesome cars are going to be available by 2010 and cost $60,000.

Garmin's diamond studded GPS devices make navigation a blingy affair

Loads of functionality can be a calling for men, but if one has to woo women, they have to make the precious rock tailgate their products. Garmin grasped this need pretty well and dressed its Nuvi 250 GPS navigation systems with the bling of diamonds. The Light Rose Diamond Edition could make many women weak in their knees, for resisting pink with diamonds is little too much to ask for. Three rows of this expensive stone line up on the frame of the GPS device. The Black Diamond Edition doesn’t look less classy, and when lying atop your dashboard in the car, the jazz of black lacquer and diamonds could easily steal attention from many. Keeping it less glittery, the Style Edition features red, black and white rimmed navigation devices.

Nokia BMW video phone concept wows us

There is something really funny about technology, especially for those who can afford anything under the sun. However, technology has not always given us everything we ever wanted. For instance, we still don’t have a car that turns into a helicopter when we need. And we also don’t have a cellphone that could be used as a telescope to spy on our neighbors. However, a designer has created a concept for the Nokia that could very well be the BMW of cellphones. He calls it the Nokia BMW Video Phone.

Parmigiani's limited edition Bugatti Faubourg watch for $233,900

Time and again we have seen magnificent car-themed timepieces that don’t fail to live up to the expectations of car enthusiasts. Even those who cannot afford such high-end vehicles can at least soothe their craving by strapping on such watches. Fast cars and ongoing time fit like a hand in glove, as you can keep tabs on how fast you are going by glancing at the time measurement device. Today it’s time to take a look at the latest edition of the Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti that carries a weighty price tag of $233,900. Once again, Bugatti from the auto world, Hermes from the haute-couture arena and Parmigiani, the distinguished Swiss watch maker, have come under one roof (or rather one dial), this time to honor Bugatti’s new Veyron Faubourg Par Hermes car. Sporting an unusual off-center face, it becomes very convenient for the driver to glance at the moving hands of the watch, akin to the moving hand of the speedometer on the car’s dashboard. The wearer doesn’t need to take his hands off the wheel while driving to read the time. Presented in 18-carat rose or brushed white gold version, it fixes firmly on your wrist with the Hermes leather strap. Its exclusivity is raised by limiting it to 20 pieces only.

Judy Garland's Ruby Slippers on auction, Manolo Blahniks out

If you are not satisfied with your Manolo Blahniks and other designer shoes, you must try something more exclusive like Judy Garland’s Arabian ruby slippers. This could very well be the best red shoes to dance the blues, as David Bowie might put it. Judy, who played Dorothy Gale and wore the red ruby shoes, has got all the actresses in a tizzy even to this day. There really is something very glamorous about the classical Hollywood era, when everything had to be as opulent and classy as possible. Minimalism was something that was best avoided and the stars reeked of class and richness. The studded and jeweled pair of shoes might be the most exclusive to go on sale at Saks Fifth Avenue, New York. The lure of the witchy ruby shoes has been really strong even after 7 decades, we must say. If you are considering buying the ruby shoes, you must also know that the money will go to charity. Fink estimates that each of the 5 pairs designed by Adrian Greenberg of MGM studios and worn by Judy garland in the 1939 film ‘The Wizard of Oz’ may fetch $1000 and more.

Alien Table - Coffee with extraterrestrials or earthlings?

On their last visit, the aliens might have missed your house, but this time be sure to welcome them in to your living room for a cuppa coffee on the Alien themed coffee table. Inspired by the famous, not-to-be-missed, Alien flick, this out-of-the-world table has been exclusively handcrafted from selected used car and bike parts, tools and other recycled metal components. This renders individuality with a green essence. Standing tall at 32 inches, the Crouching Position alien seems to be more cultured than the Emerging from Alien Egg. The latter seems to appear creepier. However if such extra-terrestrial stuff captivates your senses then you can place a cup of coffee on the glass top of these Alien tables for £499 ($1000).

Freaky Sunglasses That Can Leave you bankrupt

EBay can sometimes shock you to the limit where you are relieved of your sanity. You won’t believe that the pair of sunglasses you see above are tagged at a staggering starting bid of $173,000 on the website. Rich blokes can sometimes spend money erratically but, I bet you that no one would prefer going bankrupt for a mere pair of sunglasses that once belonged to some ’80s-era employee from Microsoft. It was a time in which saw Microsoft considerable growth thus the sunglasses must have belonged to some intellect, but even that isn’t the reason why they are priced so heftily. It is believed that these employee-specific sunglasses are the only ones left from the entire lot. A whiff of exclusivity and there goes your wealth, but the idea doesn’t impress me much! More images after the jump.

The Ideal Wheel for an Expensive Car

Carbon Fiber is much favored by the experts that tout aero-dynamism as the best bet to cut air faster. The problem with using this material is the high manufacturing cost and thus it is used only on high-priced cars. The first all-carbon fiber wheel would therefore be ideal for people who don’t really care about the price at which it is being sold in the market. Introduced by Weds, a Japanese after-market company, the unique wheel would assist the car in cutting down on weight and thus gaining in speed. The entire set of wheels costs $12,000 and weighs just 24.4 lbs. When you consider the usual weight of a commuter, it would be brought down by 39.6 lbs. What is to be seen is how these wheels perform on the road, for I haven’t heard of any major carmaker employing this technique on the production floor. I believe Jay Leno must have heard about it, so we would soon have the exact performance details, but as of now, let the rich lionize their wheels for the mere want of rarity.

Ralph Lauren's Love perfume for the well-heeled woman

The UK has been seeing a declined consumer spending lately, and many high-end brands have resorted to discounts and such other offers to attract customers. However, one couldn’t really bother about all the economic wisdom and start saving up, right? In order to prove our chicness and decadence, we would need to spend more, especially when people start to scrimp. With this in mind, Ralph Lauren is going to launch a “super premium” perfume called Love. Love comes in a gold-plated bottle and is targeted at women 25 and older who can afford to spend till it is obscene.
The Love perfume may cost nearly $3540 and could be one of the most expensive perfumes ever. This little bottle of god may help you smell like a million dollars and protect you from the economic travails in a fragrant aura built around you. Love would be available in Harrods in October this year. If this weren’t enough, Ralph Lauren is also going to launch the hugely popular Notorious perfume in the UK. French model Laetitia Casta would grace the promotional posters, and this perfume could very well be the best scent to wear on Christmas night.

SX02 Flight Simulator with surround screen

Scientists simulate almost everything when it comes to developing precision personified products. Out of that crop of simulators, the one that fascinates me the most is flight simulators. You just cannot wait to feel like a pilot tackling all problems on board. Before I swing more with my fascination, I’ll prefer coming back to normality here for the SX02 Flight Simulator that gave me wings costs a whopping $9,500. The SX02 is one of the best flight simulators I have ever come across. Not just for the hefty pricing, it has certain traits which haven’t been spoken of before. Surround sound is a regular feature with top simulators but only a few come with surround screens to keep you totally engrossed.
